Obituary
Robert Edward Conrad, a microbiologist for the Oregon State Health Division, died Wednesday in his North Portland home of complications arising from acquired immune deficiency syndrome. He was 45.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the University Park United Methodist Church.
He was born July 19, 1947, in Pittsburgh. He earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and his master's and doctoral degrees from Indiana University.
Mr. Conrad had lived in the Portland area for many years. At the time of his death, he had worked for the Oregon State Health Division for more than 15 years. He did post-doctorate work at Georgetown University.
