Matthew is remembered with a panel on the AIDS Quilt 01897


Matthew F. Getman, 32, a former Town of Tonawanda resident, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 1990) in Cabrini Medical Center, New York City, after a lengthy illness.

A 1975 graduate of Kenmore West High School, Getman attended Buffalo State College. He left the Buffalo area in 1979 and lived and worked in Houston, Dallas and Seattle before moving to New York City in 1985. He was employed in New York City by Marvin Alexander Inc., importers.

Survivors include his parents, David and Margaret Getman of the Town of Tonawanda; two sisters, Sally Vacanti of Brighton and Jane M. Getman of Madrid, N.Y., and two brothers, Charles W. and David N. Jr., both of the Town of Tonawanda.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the Shrine Chapel of St. John Neumann, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda.[1]
