Albert Lee Bousquet

Al Bousquet completed his life's journey in Palm Springs, leaving behind countless friends, his beloved partner of 17 years, Donald Ricart, and his faithful companions, Duke and Duchess. Born January 3, 1933 in Chicopee Falls, MA, Al was predeceased by both parents and his three brothers. After graduating from Springfield High, Al was a Navy Hospital Corpsman (1950 - 1955). He was assigned to two years with the U.S.M.C. in Korea, part of Charlie Company, First Battalion, Seventh Marine Regiment. During this service, Al was awarded both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Combat V. After this distinguished career, Al graduated from San Diego State University (BS in Banking and Finance-1960). He furthered his education at Golden Gate University in San Francisco (MBA-1976). Al worked at various banks in the San Diego and San Francisco Bay Area. He later was part owner of a Sausalito travel agency, eventually retiring to Palm Springs where he and Don owned an assisted living residence. Al loved traveling and was happy to have enjoyed visiting eighty-six countries in his lifetime adventures. Paris always remained his favorite foreign city with Victoria, B.C., Canada a close second. We will remember Al for his dedicated life of volunteerism for numerous non-profit, social, and political organizations. In Del Mar, Al served on its Planning Commission and was President of the Lion's Club. In the Bay Area, he was President of the Lion's Club in Moraga and served on an Advisory Committee to the Marin County School District. Late in life, Al became a creative and dynamic force in the LGBT community, serving on boards of community centers in San Jose, Marin County and Palm Springs. Al is survived by and will be greatly missed by Don Ricart, his cherished partner who honored their relationship with a Holy Union ceremony in Mill Valley in 1990. He is also survived by three children as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Al will be cremated with his ashes Interred at Fort Rosecrans, overlooking the ocean at Point Loma, San Diego. In lieu of funeral services, Don will host a Celebration of Al's Life in Palm Springs in October. Donations in Al's memory may be made to Desert Pride Center, 611 S.
