History:

From the Program Book of the 10th IAGSDC Convention, held in Seattle, WA in 1993:
Cotton Pickin' Squares were formed in September of '91. Our senior most founding member and former club president is an old square dance fart, Bill Scott. Seattle will be Bill's tenth convention. Bill had been dancing for many years when fate and AT&T brought him to Memphis. He and his lover invited my lover and myself to attend the Miami convention in '91. After that taste of square dance atmosphere we were on a mission. Memphis needed square dancing! Yes, the river city needed it bad! Because of Bill's strong commitment to bring square dance to our fair city (and the fact that he can be quite bullheaded) we now have a well established and flourishing club.
Since our inception, we have graduated three classes, performed at fund raising events, elevated the local awareness of alternative social activities (people thought we were crazy at first) and we have had one hell of a good time.
