Darrell Fontes
Mass has been celebrated for former Venture County resident Darrell Fontes, 45, of Sacramento.
Fontes died May 2 in a Sacramento hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 16, 1943, in Camarillo, Fontes was a 1961 graduate of Camarillo High School and was graduated from the University of Long Beach with a master's degree in speech and hearing pathology.
Fontes last was employed at the California Correctional Women's Facility in Stockton as a supervisor of academic instruction.
He is survived his parents, Edward and Solange Fontes of Oxnard, and one sister, Junette Hodge of Oxnard.
Following cremation, a memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sacramento by the Rev. Tom Pendergast.
Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Services auxiliary in Ventura or the American Cancer Society.[1]
