IN MEMORIAM
Douglas B. Lewis
Born November 5, 1966
Died May 18, 1994

Doug Lewis was born November 5, 1966 in Brewster, Washington. He was raised in East Wenatchee where he was a cub scout, played church league softball, and was a member of the FFA. He was an outstanding competitive swimmer with the Eastmont Barracuda Swim team from 5-14 years of age. He graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1986.

Doug made his home in Seattle for the past seven years. He attended classes at Seattle Central Community College and worked as a mortgage loan officer with the Jameson Group from early 1990 through Spring 1993. Doug was a very successful loan officer. He took great pride in his work and felt tremendous job satisfaction when he helped a first time buyer purchase a “home.” As an active member of the Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA), he challenged his company and the people he worked with to provide services and support to the Gay and Lesbian community.

Doug had a special way with people. He touched most folks who knew him. He had a way of giving people a hard time that just made them love him more. Precious to Doug were his many friends, his cat Mindy, and his white thunderbird which was easily identified by his “MR. DOUG” license plates. The places he enjoyed most spending time were the ocean, Thumpers and the Timberline, Lade Goodwin, the mountains, and tucked in his warm, cozy, featherbed.

Doug is survived by his parents, Ken and Shirley Lewis of East Wenatchee; maternal grandmother, Agnes Wright of Malott, Washington; sister and brother-in-law Lori and Douglas Griffin, and nieces Samantha and Ashton of Duvall; and special friend, Gerry Rasmussen of Edmonds.

Doug’s family and friends express heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers, doctors, and the Bailey-Boushay staff who provided loving, respectful care for Doug over the last several years.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 2 p.m. in the Arboretum. For more information contact 329-72611 or 528-2285. Doug’s wish for all those who loved him was not to mourn his death, but to celebrate life. [1]
