Obituary

Douglas Q. Wells, age 49, of Oak Park, Illinois and formerly of Carlyle, passed away Tuesday, October 7 in Chicago. Funeral services for 49 year old Douglas Q. Wells will be held Saturday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Oak Park.

He was born on July 14, 1965, in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of David Wells and Doris (Quick) Wells.

Douglas is survived by his mother – Doris Wells of Carlyle, Illinois; his twin sister – Dera Leadbetter and husband Raymond; and nephews – Nathan and Ryan Leadbetter. He is preceded in death by his father – David Wells.

Douglas graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Music degree and was an active member of the Concert Chorale. His professional career included positions in the retail and service industries. He also worked at the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust in Oak Park.

Douglas was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Oak Park, Illinois, volunteering as membership chairman, chancel choir member, and with the homeless community program, Public Auction to Deliver Shelter (PADS).

He was passionate about his faith, family, friends, and music. He enjoyed reading and tending to his cats, Tiger and Miller.[1]

Remembrances

Doug took Chi-Town's blast class in September 2014, joined the club and died shortly after.
