Visitation for Edward K. Grabow, 65, of Bourbonnais, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.Memorials may be made to the Bourbonnais Library. He died Sunday (Jan. 2, 2005) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee. Mr. Grabow had been a teacher since 1961. He had taught music and band since 1965 in Manteno. He had also taught at Indian Oaks Academy. He also served on the Bourbonnais Library Board, where he was chairman of the building committee, and was one of the founders of the Help Your Neighbor Club. He was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Chicago, the son of Edward F. and Helen Corydon Grabow. His parents are deceased. He was married to the former Lorelei Frazer. Surviving are two sons, Edward James Grabow IV and Mark C. Grabow, both of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Kristy Grabow of Bourbonnais; four grandchildren, Alicia, Josh, Hana and Skyler Grabow; and special friends, Tommy Wolford and Roger Beland, both of Bourbonnais. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago. Mr. Grabow was a lifetime member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honor Music Fraternity, the National Education Association, and the Illinois and Manteno education associations. He also was a member of the Peotone Masonic Lodge No. 636 since 1964, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, Medinah Temple Shrine, Kankakee Shrine Club and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Bourbonnais Council No. 772 Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree and Bishop McNamara Assembly 4th Degree, past grand knight, past president of Holy Name Society at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Chicago Historical Society. He was past docent for Chicago Architectural Association and former treasurer of the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival.[1]
