Obituary

After courageously living with AIDS for many years, Elliot passed away peacefully at Maitri Hospice in San Francisco. Born in New York State and a graduate of the University of Denver, he moved to California in 1968. After working in both California and Alaska, in 1973 he settled in San Francisco where for many years he was employed by United Way. A man of many talents, he at one time played trumpet with the San Francisco Lesbian-Gay Freedom Band.

He was a popular member of the Western Star Dancers, and could always be counted on to produce an entertaining costume at the annual square dance convention. As AIDS educator for the New Conservatory Children's Theatre, he brought joy and understanding to school children throughout Northern California while touring with the Theatre's two AIDS plays. His enthusiastic involvement with the Center for Attitudinal Healing in Tiburon will never be forgotten. Well known and honored many times for his numerous volunteer activities, he was awarded "Point of Light" Number 315 by President Bush on December 1, 1990. Elliot is survived by his family in New York and by many devoted friends throughout the world.^[1]
