SNYDER, The Reverend Matthew Webster — Born May 15, 1964 in Washington, D.C., died of AIDS-related causes at his home in San Francisco, California on Monday, January 30th. He will be remembered as a source of love, humor, warmth and caring by his husband, his family and the many others with whom he shared his life. Matthew graduated from the Loomis/Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut in 1982 before coming to California and moving to the Santa Rosa area. There, he studied at Sonoma State University, where he took his B.A in 1991. He then relocated to San Francisco and attended the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, receiving his Master of Divinity degree there in 1994. During his tenure at PSR, Matthew became involved with the Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco, where he remained active until the time of his death. He served first as student clergy and facilitator for HIV-support groups, and was lated appointed by the MCC-Excel directors as clergy representative for the MCC-Excel team, a group which focuses on spiritual renewal Just prior to his death, he was officially licensed as a minister by Rev. Jim Mitulski of MCC of San Francisco, a goal he pursued despite extreme physical hardships, with great courage and tenacity while ill with AIDS. In October 1994, Rev. Mitulski also officiated at the Holy Union service of Matthew and his partner, Larry Knee. together, Matthew and Larry formed Pyramid Home Health Care in early 1994 to serve the needs of the gay community and to reach out to AIDS patients in particular. It is their hope that the company will continue to grow, providing support for those in need, and one day, to achieve their dream of building a home for persons with AIDS. in addition to Larry, Matthew is survived by his mother and stepfather, Emily and Walter Williams of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; a sister, Amy Colo of Boulder, Colorado; two brothers, David and Andrew Snyder of Los Angeles, California and Ashland, Oregon, respectively; a niece, Shanti Colo, and a nephew, Ben Colo, both of Boulder.

Memorial Services will be held at the Metropolitan Community Church, 150 Eureka Street, San Francisco, on Saturday, February 4th, at 1pm. IN lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCC AIDS Support Servies.

The Rev. Matthew Webster Snyder died of AIDS-related causes at his home in San Francisco on Monday, January 30.

Matthew received his Master of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley in 1994. During his tenure at PSR, he became involved with the Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco, where he remained active until the time of his death.

Just prior to his passing, Matthew was officially licenssed as a minister by the Rev. Jim Mitulski of MCC/SF, a goal he had pursued, despite extreme physical handicaps, with great courage and tenacity while ill with AIDS.

Matthew and his partner, Larry Knee, formed Pyramid Home Health Care in early 1994 to serve the needs of the gay community and to reach out to AIDS patients in particular. It is their hope that they will one day achieve their desire of building a home for PWAs.

Matthew is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Emily and Walter; sister, Amy; brothers, David and Andrew; niece, Shanti; and nephew, Ben.
