Obituary
Dr. Neil B. Kalin passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, surrounded by love in his home in Atlanta. Born on May 29, 1943, in Utica, New York, to Ann and Morris Kalin, Neil was a devoted son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend.
He graduated from Procter High School and the University of Buffalo before pursuing his doctorate at the Illinois College of Optometry. Neil later settled in Atlanta, where he practiced optometry for over 45 years with compassion and dedication.
A man of many talents and passions, Neil lived life to the fullest. He was a true gentleman, known for his kind heart and adventurous spirit. His interests were vast and included polo, fox hunting, skiing, tennis, cycling, and hiking, among many others. He was also an active volunteer and member of several community organizations.
Neil was predeceased by his beloved husband, Mak; his parents, Ann and Morris Kalin; his brothers, Frank and Ed; and his cherished aunt, Muriel Rosen.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Maddy Kalin and Barbara Kalin; his niece, Ivy Lesser, and nephew-in-law, Larry Lesser; his grand-nephew, Charlie, and grand-niece, Calyn. He is also survived by his cousins, Valerie Rosen and Dina Little.
With deep gratitude, the family extends heartfelt thanks to his angel Ruchelle Hoskins, and his caregivers Katoria, Shanta, and Nadine. Neil's loyal companions, Gabriel and Joshua, were always by his side, as were his many treasured friends.
Neil will be laid to rest in Arizona. A private celebration of his life will be held in Atlanta in the near future.
