Obituary

Beloved matriarch, dedicated community member, and spirited square dancer, Norva H. Pope, passed away peacefully in her home at Brightview Assisted Living in Severna Park, Maryland, on May 26, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born on June 30, 1928, in Thurmont, Maryland, Norva was the cherished daughter of Charles Spencer Harrison and Emma Fredericka Harrison. She grew up surrounded by the love and values instilled by her parents building the foundations of a life rich in community involvement and family devotion.

Norva graduated from Glen Burnie High School in the mid-1940s. Later she began a career as a Production Planner at Baltimore Aircoil Company. Her dedication and expertise spanned over four decades, leading to her retirement in the 1990s. Alongside her professional career, she was the proud owner of Money Matters, providing tax and bookkeeping services to her community until 2022.

Norva's life was not only defined by her career but also by her vibrant involvement in various social and philanthropic communities. A faithful member of Eastern Star Highland Chapter #33, she proudly served as Worthy Matron. Her passion for square dancing was legendary; she was actively involved with the Friendship Squares and Four Counties Square Dancing Clubs, among many others. Norva's love for the dance took her to leadership heights when she co-chaired the 49th National Square Dance Convention in Baltimore City in 2000. She was also a lifelong and dedicated member of Jenkins Memorial, a Church her father had founded and where she served for many years with passion.

Family was Norva's greatest joy and priority. She is survived by her devoted children: son Charles Clow and his wife Paula, daughter Judy Willey and her husband Don, and son Robert Pope. Her legacy includes numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory.

Preceding her in death were her first husband Charles Henry Clow, her second husband Joseph Thomas Pope, her beloved sister Caroline Grabill, her son Joseph Pope, and her grandson Jeremy Pope.

Norva will be remembered for her zest for life, her love of bowling, square dancing, RV camping adventures, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Norva's life during the evening visitation at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jenkins Memorial Church in Pasadena, MD. A private interment will be held at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
