Obituary

Dr. Sherry L. Volk (née Sisk), aged 83, passed away on July 31, 2024, in Penngrove, CA. Born on April 17, 1941, in Spokane, Washington, she was a revered academic and a cherished member of her community.

Sherry embarked on an illustrious academic career at Dominican University in San Rafael and retired with over four decades of dedicated service. Her intellectual contributions were immense, and her commitment to education left a lasting impact on many.

Sherry's passions extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid reader, a world traveler, a movie enthusiast, and a lover of gardening and horses. Her vibrant and full-of-life personality brought joy to those around her.

She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Webber; her children, Heather Aldrich (John), Jason Volk (Marissa), and Ariel Moir (Greg); and four grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Volk, and her parents, Bertie Louise and Roger Sisk.

The Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma, CA, is assisting the family with arrangements. Sherry's life will be remembered for her intelligence, caring nature, humor and strong will. Her legacy will continue to influence and inspire.
