Obituary

Alaric 'Tom' Morgan
Services have been held in New York City for Alaric "Tom" Morgan, who died May 27, 1994, from a stroke related to his battle with AIDS. He was 47.

A UC Davis graduate and a former UCD employee who worked as a programmer in the environmental studies department, he was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He attended St. Bridget's Elementary School and Pius X Seminary. Upon graduation, he attended Fordham University and majored in language and fine arts.

In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, enrolled in the Defense Language Institute-West Coast in Monterey and met his future wife, Linda Richardson. He graduated first in his class in Mandarin Chinese. By 1970, he was assigned to Army security in Okinawa where he received an official commendation from Queen Elizabeth of England. Upon discharge from the Army, he completed his degree in mathematics from UCD and was later employed at the university.

He is survived by two sons, Jamie Morgan of Sacramento and Tobin Richardson of Washington, D.C.; his former wife, Linda Morgan Richardson of Denver; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Diane Morgan of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration will be held July 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard of The Longview Apartments, which are located at the corner of Seventh and F streets in Davis.
