David G. Miller
Dec. 9, 1953 – Dec. 11, 1994
David was born in Portland, Ore. In 1985, he moved to Seattle with his partner, Bill Liddicoat; he died on their eleventh anniversary, Dec. 11.
David was raised in Vancouver, where he graduated from Columbia River High School in 1971. He was also a graduate of the University of Washington and did post-graduate work at the University of Houston. David was a 16-year employee of U.S. West working as a systems analyst.
As a person who was interested in his community, David had many involvements. A longtime member of the Seattle Men’s Chorus, he had previously been an active member of Portland Gay Men’s Chorus for about four years. It was while singing in the Portland chorus that David met Bill. David also enjoyed square dancing and was a member of Puddletown Dancers for several years. He was a member of U.S. West EAGLE and Telephone Pioneer Clowns. For about five years, David led as a U.S. West Team Captain in the Northwest AIDS Foundation Walk. His team received awards several years for raising the most money among U.S. West teams.
He also served on the Diversity Task Force and Pluralism Council at U.S. West. This was a result of his commitment to diversity and pluralism for all people, which was a never-ending passion for him.
David will be sorely missed by many loving friends as well as his family: partner, Bill Liddicoat; parents, Helen and Don Miller, of Vancouver; a brother, Lt. Col. Doug Miller, and a nephew, Stephen Miller, both of Arlington, Texas. You know we will always miss you.
A memorial service will be held at 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Butterworth Manning Ashmore, 300 E. Pine St., on Capitol Hill. Remembrances can be sent to Seattle Men’s Chorus, P.O. Box 20146, Seattle, Wash., 98102 or to the Northwest AIDS Foundation. [2]
