Obituary
Born May 11, 1951 in Tallahassee, Florida, John Presley passed away April 30 of a massive heart attack. Terry grew up in Florida, the oldest of four children. He graduated from Florida State University with an Acting and Teaching degree and proceeded to teach middle school. Terry married his college sweetheart Sybil Adcock. They were divorced a few years later after Terry came out as a gay man.
Terry moved to California in the late 1970, first to Los Angeles and then to San Francisco. He worked for the IRS for 25 years.
In San Francisco, Terry was an active member of the Foggy City Dancers and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.
Terry is survived by his mother Jo Huggins and his father, Dr. John Presley, two brothers, Scott and Dan, and his sister Joy, as well as many close friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
A memorial service for Terry will be held in Saturday, May 31 at 12:30 p.m. at First Unitarian Church in San Francisco.
Donations in Terry's memory should be made payable to the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus and mailed to Stan Cardoza at 407 Orange Street, Unit #409, Oakland, Ca, 94610.[1]
Remembrances
Unbelievably kind, funny, and friendly, Terry possessed the sharpest wit you'd ever encounter.
Terry was a member of Foggy City Dancers, the Foggy City Performance Team, and Gold Rush. Some samples of Terry's wonderful calling can be seen in some videos of Foggy City Performance Team.
Terry received his 10-year medallion in 1995. Terry gave up square dancing to become more involved with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. He died unexpectedly in 2008.
Terry is remembered on the IAGSDC Memorial Panels. At Touch A Quarter Century there was a gathering of his friends to share stories and pin his badge to the memorial.
